İsmet Atlı

İsmet Atlı (* 1931 in Çukurören ; † April 4, 2014 in Kozan ) was a Turkish wrestler . He was an Olympic light heavyweight champion in 1960 .

Career

İsmet Atlı grew up in Adana and soon got into wrestling. During his career, Necati Tokbudak, Nuri Boytorun, Yasar Doğu and Celal Atik were his coaches. In 1951 his international career began, which lasted until 1962 and culminated with the Olympic victory in Rome in 1960. After finishing his playing days he worked as a trainer in Turkey. Atlı died on April 4, 2014 in a hospital in Kozan .
