Chkalov Monument, Nizhny Novgorod

At Lenin's program of monumental propaganda Mendelevich involved with a number of monumental statues for monuments in Russian cities. This is how a statue of Lenin was created for one of the first monuments to be erected in Ufa in 1924. In 1939 the chairman of the commission for the Lenin monuments Sergei Merkurov came to Ufa to check the status of the monument. He decided that Mendelevich's Lenin was no longer enough, so that he was moved to the site of the later Hydraulika plant and Merkurov's Lenin made of concrete was placed on the monument. When this fell into disrepair, a granite replacement was decided in 1987 , but not implemented due to lack of financial means. In 2011 an exact copy of the Merkurov Lenin statue by the Ufa sculptor Chalit Galimullin was erected with funding from private sponsors in the presence of the chairman of the KPRF Gennady Andreyevich Syuganov . Mendelevich made another statue of Lenin in 1927. Monumental statues by Nikolai Ernestowitsch Bauman , Grigori Konstantinowitsch Ordzhonikidze and Sergei Alexejewitsch Tschaplygin followed . For the statue of the aviator Valery Pavlovich Tschkalow for the monument in what is now Nizhny Novgorod by the architects Ivan Georgievich Taranov and Viktor Semjonowitsch Andreev (1942), Mendelevich received the Stalin Prize, 2nd class, in 1939 .

Mendelevich was buried in Moscow's Novodevichy Cemetery. The well-known sculptor Vladimir Efimovich Zigal admired Mendelevich.
