East Region (North Macedonia)
The East Region ( Macedonian Источен регион Istočen region ) is one of the eight statistical regions in the Republic of North Macedonia . It is located in the eastern part of the country and borders Bulgaria . It also shares borders with the regions of Vardar , Skopje , Northeast and Southeast .
Regions in Macedonia do not perform any administrative tasks, but are only there for purely statistical purposes. In some cases, however, they form historical regions that are and were economically and culturally linked.
