Itaru Hinoue
Itaru Hinoue ( Japanese 樋 上 い た る , Hinoue Itaru ; * March 1st in Osaka Prefecture , Japan ) is the pseudonym of a Japanese artist whose real name is not known. She is one of the founding members of the game developer Key and took over the artistic direction of the titles Kanon , Air and Clannad .
stage name
The artist borrowed her pseudonym from the Manga C written by Shō Kitagawa , the protagonist of which was Itaru Amano ( 天野 格 , Amano Itaru ).
Career
Under the influence of the popular Ren'ai adventure and simulation Dōkyūsei , she attended vocational school with the aim of becoming a professional artist. In 1996 she worked as one of many artists for the game Tamago Ryōri by Bon Bin Pompon. Shortly after its completion, she moved to the game developer Tactics , who worked for the publisher Nexton . There she took over the artistic direction of the games Dōsei , Moon. and One - Kagayaku Kisetsu e .
With some employees of these plants, she founded the game developer Key together with Jun Maeda , Shinji Orito , Naoki Hisaya and OdiakeS , who from then on worked for the publisher Visual Art’s . She worked for Key on the Kanon , Air and Clannad titles . In the following games Planetarian - Chiisana Hoshi no Yume and Tomoyo After - It's a Wonderful Life, however, she was not involved. First with Little Busters! , which appeared in July 2007, she took back the role of Artistic Director, which she shared with her successor Na-Ga , who designed most of the characters.
Outside of Key, she worked as artistic director in the creation of the Yaoi- Ren'ai adventure Bokura wa Minna, Koi o suru - Nous tous chute dans l'amour. ( ぼ く ら は み ん な 、 恋 を す る Nous tous chute dans l'amour.) Of the developer Pekoe, who also works for Visual Art's. In 2007 she created the uniform design for the five-part School Heart's series . The series producer - Mana - was also one of Visual Art's brands.
Since December 2007 she has hosted the Internet radio program Key Radio together with Shinji Orito and Chiro (a colleague at Pekoe) . This is a show in which the audience can influence the content themselves and, for example, formulate questions to the trio.
In 2008, work began on the title Rewrite , where she was responsible for project planning and at the same time taking on the work of the artistic director and character designer . She also helped create one of the book posters for the Manga Kannagi .
Art style
The art style of the characters designed by Itaru Hinoue changed over the years. Nevertheless, they have characteristic features. The figures she designed have very small noses that are not far from the mouth. This results in an unnaturally large distance between the lower edge of the chin and the mouth. The round eyes (a trapezoid with a strongly rounded upper edge) are quite large but also placed far apart. The characters' limbs, like the torso, are drawn long and thin. Although these types of drawings do not correspond to the usual style, a high Moe factor is attributed to the characters designed by them . This recurring style is referred to by Japanese fans as "Itaru-e" ( い た る 絵 , English "Itaru drawings").
reception
Shortly before Clannad was released in April 2004, two drawings she signed were posted on the Yahoo! Japanese website. auctioned . The bids started at one yen . 48 people bid on the first drawing and it sold 479,000 yen, while the second drawing (a representation of Kotomi from Clannad) changed hands for 531,000 yen after 113 bids were received. The latter drawing was thus the sixth most expensive item to date since April 2001 on Yahoo! (Japan) was auctioned.
