Itezhi Tezhi is a place with 8216 inhabitants (2006 estimate) on the River Kafue in the Southern Province in Zambia . Lusaka is 115 kilometers away. The place is next to the Itezhitezhi Dam . It is 1000 meters above sea level and is the seat of the administration of the district of the same name with 43,111 inhabitants (2000 census).

Itezhi Tezhi lives from tourism in Kafue National Park and is considered an idyllic place. The reservoir offers some important jobs in the place through its electricity generation and maintenance, as does the national park. Overall, the community is subject to the aesthetic and organizational requirements of the World Tourism Organization. Agriculture is comparable to that in neighboring Namwala . Corn and peanuts are grown. There is also considerable livestock farming and fishing. In January 2006, the district reported 7,626 households in famine. The Zambia Times noted in 2005 that there was not a single development project in the district.

Infrastructure

Itezhi Tezhi has several lodges and safari camps in the area. There are shops and a gas station, a hospital, elementary and secondary schools. The Ngoma Air Strip is in close proximity to the Kalala Camp.
