Antonio Álvarez Pérez (born January 21, 1975 in Almendralejo , Spain ), known as Ito , is a former Spanish football player and current football coach .

He played a total of 282 games in the Primera División and scored seven goals in ten seasons, mainly with Betis Sevilla and Espanyol Barcelona .

Ito started his professional game at the local Extremadura FC , which helped him move from Segunda División B to Primera División and made his top debut on September 9, 1996 in a game against Betis Sevilla . Although the club in the final relegated , he was a key player (39 games, one goal) and fell at Celta Vigo , where he for the UEFA Europa League in his final season for the next qualified .

Ito then played for six years at Betis Sevilla . There he was an important first team member and occasionally the captain . In 2004 he went to Barcelona's Espanyol Barcelona .

Ito won the Copa del Rey with Espanyol Barcelona in the 2005/06 season . He played in ten UEFA Europa League games.

In July 2007, Ito went to the Segunda División in Córdoba FC after two seasons of regular time at the age of 34 . Then he left the club and went to the CP Cacereño , which is located in his region of origin.

National team

After a good campaign with Celta Vigo , Ito won his only international match for Spain on September 23, 1998, which Spain won 1-0 against Russia in Granada in the last two minutes .

Previously, he helped the Spain U-21 team to beat Greece in the final of the U-21 European Football Championship in 1998 .

Trainer

From 2011 to 2012 Ito was the coach of the Villafranca club. Since 2013 he has been training the CD Díter Zafra.
