The Itter is a brook that rises near Itterbeck in the joint municipality of Uelsen in Lower Saxony . The Itter flows through Itterbeck and further towards Bruinehaar ( province of Overijssel ) in the Netherlands . There it is called Itterbeek .
The name of the village Itterbeck is derived from the stream name. The source of the Itter is a good kilometer east of Itterbeck in a wooded area of the Itterbecker Heide nature reserve .
