The Itterbeck Heath is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony municipality of Itterbeck in the joint municipality of Uelsen in the Grafschaft Bentheim district .
The nature reserve with the registration number NSG WE 034 is 126 hectares in size. It almost completely forms the FFH area of the same name .
The "Itterbecker Heide" is located northwest of Itterbeck. It is one of the largest contiguous sand heath areas in southwest Lower Saxony. The heather area is characterized by dunes and edged moraines . You can find dwarf shrub heather , juniper heather and dry grassland . Parts of the nature reserve are used for forestry and agriculture . The source of the Itter brook is located a good kilometer east of Itterbeck in a wooded area of the nature reserve.
The area has been a nature reserve since August 23, 2007. It replaces the nature reserve of the same name originally placed under protection on October 7, 1939. The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the county of Bentheim.
