The Halle-Hesingen tumulus heather is located south of the village of Hesingen in the municipality of Halle in the Uelsen municipality in the Grafschaft Bentheim district .
General
The area, in which there are 14 barrows and the remains of vaulters , was placed under nature protection by the Weser-Ems district government in 1984 . It covers around 20 hectares and is marked "NSG WE 155".
nature
In addition to its cultural and historical importance, it is also worthy of protection from a nature conservation point of view, since the plant communities that exist here, mainly dry sandy heaths and pedunculate oak-birch forests, are becoming increasingly rare. The purpose of the protection is to protect these plant communities and to develop them as habitats for species and communities in need of protection.
Other protected areas
The area is also designated as FFH area 172. In the south there is a heather area that is part of the Dutch nature reserve Het Springendal .
