They are partly characterized by species-rich wet meadows with sedges and rushes and transitions to sedge plains. The grassland areas in the nature reserve are important for various meadow birds . The red-backed shrike is also native to the nature reserve.

During the bird migration, the area is u. a. of Big curlew , lapwing , snipe , Jack Snipe , Green Sandpiper , teal , teal , shoveler , shrike , Meadow Pipit and Stonechat consulted.

The nature reserve is largely surrounded by grassland areas of the Syen-Venn . To the north, east and south it borders on farm roads . A wooded area connects to the south. The southern Synnvenn ditch, which drains part of the Synn-Venn before it flows into the Rammelbecke , has its source here.
