The pond on the Syen-Venn is a nature reserve in the Lower Saxony communities of Quendorf and Isterberg in the joint community of Schüttorf in the county of Bentheim .
The nature reserve with the sign NSG WE 283 is around 28 hectares in size. The 9.52 hectare FFH area of the same name is part of the nature reserve. The nature reserve has been under protection since July 21, 2016. The protected position also serves as a compensatory measure for the construction of the A 30 . The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the county of Bentheim.
The nature reserve is roughly between Nordhorn and Bad Bentheim south of the " Syen-Venn " nature reserve . It provides two nutrient-poor to moderate nutrient-rich ponds with beach Ling societies and a large luronium deposits and deposits of Flutendem celery , flood Ender bog rush, Vielstängeliger swamp ledges , marsh St. John's wort , Pillenfarn and Pure White Water crowfoot under protection. The ponds are the habitat of the moor frog and the black darter . The waters lie within extensively managed meadows and pastures in a large grassland belt that surrounds the “Syen-Venn” nature reserve. The areas belong entirely to the Grafschaft Bentheim district. The grassland areas serve the small bodies of water as a buffer zone against nutrient inputs. They are partly characterized by species-rich wet meadows with sedges and rushes and transitions to sedge plains. The grassland areas in the nature reserve are important for various meadow birds . The red-backed shrike is also native to the nature reserve.
During the bird migration, the area is u. a. of Big curlew , lapwing , snipe , Jack Snipe , Green Sandpiper , teal , teal , shoveler , shrike , Meadow Pipit and Stonechat consulted.
The nature reserve is largely surrounded by grassland areas of the Syen-Venn . To the north, east and south it borders on farm roads . A wooded area connects to the south. The southern Synnvenn ditch, which drains part of the Synn-Venn before it flows into the Rammelbecke , has its source here.
