Christiane Magdalena Elisabeth Haßloch b. Keilholz (born July 16, 1764 in Pirna , † August 23, 1829 in Darmstadt ) was a German actress and opera singer ( coloratura soprano ).

Life

She was the daughter of the actor Philipp Christian Keilholz (1735–1800) and his wife Dorothea Elisabeth born. Brückmann. She appeared in the theater for the first time as early as 1769 and was engaged in Hamburg from 1772 to 1773 together with her parents, her sister Dorothea and her brother Adolf Philipp Christian. In 1776/77 she worked in Braunschweig and Lüneburg , from 1777 to 1779 and from 1780 to 1783 again in Hamburg, in between in Münster . From 1784 to 1786 she sang together with her sister at the Hamburg City Theater .

From 1786 she belonged to the theater troupe of Gustav Friedrich Großmann and Christian Wilhelm Klos, which played under the music director August Burgmüller in Cologne , Düsseldorf , Bonn and Aachen . The Bonn National Theater, which opened on January 3, 1789, emerged from the troupe. In this way she came into contact with the young Ludwig van Beethoven , who played the viola in the theater orchestra .

In May 1790 she left Bonn again and went to the Mannheim National Theater, where she made her debut as Constanze in Mozart's opera Die Entführung aus dem Serail on June 6th and worked until 1792. In Mannheim she broke her contract and went to the Deutsches Theater in Amsterdam , only to come back a short time later. For this she had to pay a penalty of 100 ducats . Together with the tenor Theodor Haßloch , she went to Amsterdam again in 1793, where they both married.

From 1795 to 1804 she worked with her husband in Kassel . After a tour of the whole of Germany, she retired from the stage for a year in 1809. Until 1820 she sang and performed at the newly founded Darmstadt Theater, where she was appointed court actress. In 1818 she ended her career and withdrew into private life.

One of her best roles was Julie in Romeo and Julie by Georg Benda .
