Iturriaga Quartet
The Iturriaga Quartet is a string quartet ensemble that was founded in 1996.
history
The quartet was founded in 1996 when the members were studying together at the Leipzig University of Music . Aitzol and Iokine Iturriagagoitia already knew each other from the Escuela Superior de Reina Sofia in Madrid. Together with Miguel Ángel Lucas and Rebekka Riedel, the will to found a quartet was formed. The quartet was shaped by studies with Hatto Beyerle , Norbert Brainin and Christoph Richter and by membership in the European Chamber Music Academy .
Since then the Iturriaga Quartet a. a. in Leipzig , Bonn , Berlin , Prague , Zurich and São Paulo .
In addition, the quartet played with major soloists. Among others: Vladimir Mendelssohn , Hartmut Rohde or Peter Sadlo .
repertoire
The focus of the quartet is on neglected composers of the 20th century, such as Berthold Goldschmidt or Ignace Strasfogel, as well as on Spanish and Latin American quartet music. In addition, it masters the classical and romantic repertoire, such as Haydn , Mozart or Beethoven .
