Ivan Siljic (* 1972 in Vienna ) is an Austrian director and screenwriter .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1990, Ivan Siljic began producing his own short films on the media system of the Theater Studies Institute of the University of Vienna as part of his studies . From 1993 to 1996 he worked as a figure maker and camera assistant at the animation film studio Heinrich Sabl (figure animation film "PÈRE UBU").

In 1996 she returned to Vienna as part of a film-technical training at the Moviecam company. In 1998 he worked as a camera assistant in the productions "Im Kreuzfeuer" (by Thomas Roth ; producer: Niki List ; Cult-Film), "Bride of the Wind" (1999) and as a cameraman in the productions "Nachtreise" (2000, Viennale - Prize 2002) and Accordion Tribe (2004, Swiss Documentary Film Prize 2005).

In 2002 Siljic's first feature film "Rocco" was made with Morteza Tavakoli in the lead role as well as Michael Niavarani and Dolores Schmidinger . The film was shown in the following festivals: " 36th International Film Festival " 2002 in Hof, " 24th Film Festival Max Ophüls Preis " 2003 in Saarbrücken, " 26th Göteborg International Film Festival " 2003 and " 29th Diagonale " 2003 in Graz.

In 2006 Siljic made the full-length documentary “Six Lovers” in cooperation with Nanook Film, 3sat and the Federal Ministry for Education, Art and Culture . In the following years (2007–2009) Siljic's second full-length documentary: “Bregana - 9/11, my mother and the Zagreb mixed epoch” (in cooperation with Nanook Film) was released. The film was shown at the “Wiener FrauenFilmTagen ” 2010 , among others .

In 2012, the third full-length documentary film Mach mich ichanzen followed , also in cooperation with Nanook Film and the Federal Ministry for Education, Art and Culture (BMUKK).
