Ivo Adam

Ivo Adam (born November 4, 1977 ) is a Swiss world champion chef , TV chef and book author .

Life

After school in Biel , he completed an apprenticeship as a chef at the Hotel Krone in Aarberg from 1994 to 1997. From 1997 to 1998 he worked as chef de partie at the Hirschen restaurant in Lyss . From 1998 to 2000 he trained as a pastry chef at Confiserie Progin in Biel and then worked for a short time as head pastry chef at the Hotel Bern in Bern and then moved to the Hotel Schweizerhof in Bern, where he accepted the position of sous chef. He stayed there until 2001. From 2001 to 2004 he studied at the hotel management school in Thun and graduated as a hotelier. During his studies he enjoyed a number of advanced training courses at home and abroad. He completed cooking training courses in Glasgow , Singapore and Luxembourg and a service internship in Olten .

Ivo Adam was a member of the Swiss national culinary team from 2000 to 2003 and won gold twice with the team at the 2001 culinary Olympics in Erfurt and became European champion. In 2001 he won the World Cold Kitchen Championship in Glasgow . In 2002 he won the world championship with the team and became world champion chef in the individual discipline in the patisserie program.

From 2003 to 2004 Ivo Adam worked as a sous-chef and second head chef at the Hotel Ferienart in Saas-Fee . In 2004 he founded gastropos GmbH for gastronomic concept development and opened two Apropos restaurants , one in Roggwil and one in Oensingen . The restaurant in Roggwil was awarded 15 points by Gault Millau . In 2006 he gave up the restaurants and opened the restaurant SEVEN in Ascona in 2007 , which also received 15 points from the restaurant guide at the beginning. The restaurant is named after the Breuer family of seven who invested in the project. Since then he has been the managing director of this restaurant, which today (as of 2015) also has a star in the Michelin Guide . In 2008 he opened an offshoot SEVEN easy and in 2009 the sushi bar SEVEN asia in Ascona.

In 2012 and 2013 Adam was the presenter of the cooking show Schwiizer Chuchi on SRF 1 .

Since 2017 Ivo Adam has been managing director of the new Casino Bern , which he is realigning gastronomically.
