Ivo Trümpy

Ivo Trümpy (* 1937 in Lugano ) is a Swiss architect , professor of architecture and politician from the canton of Ticino . He is an important representative of the "Ticino School".

Life

Ivo Trümpy studied at the Scuola Tecnica Superiore in Lugano-Trevano. From 1962 to 1970 he ran a studio with Aurelio Galfetti and Flora Ruchat-Roncati in Bedano . He then opened another one with Aurelio Bianchini in Riva San Vitale . He is a lecturer at the Scuola universitaria professionale della Svizzera italiana (SUPSI). The municipal outdoor pool Bagno pubblico in Bellinzona , built in 1970 with Aurelio Galfetti and Flora Ruchat-Roncati, is an important example of "territorial architecture" and is considered one of the best public bathing establishments in Switzerland. It was designed under the influence of the ideas of Rino Tami . Trümpy also dealt with the typology of the gardens and the restoration. Together with Aurelio Bianchini, he planned and managed the construction of the Federal Office for Agricultural Research (network structure made of wood) in Cadenazzo (1993–1994). Trümpy is a member of the Società svizzera degli ingegneri e degli architetti (Swiss Association of Engineers and Architects).
