Aurelio Galfetti
Aurelio Galfetti (born April 2, 1936 in Lugano , Canton Ticino ) is a Swiss architect . Along with Mario Botta , Luigi Snozzi , Tita Carloni and Livio Vacchini, he is one of the main representatives of Ticino architecture in the 20th century.
Life
After working at the Tita Carloni architecture firm in Lugano, Galfetti studied at the ETH Zurich with Paul Waltenspühl from 1956 to 1960 . In 1960 he opened his own office in Lugano. From 1962 to 1970 there was an office community with the architects Flora Ruchat-Roncati and Ivo Trümpy . Between 1970 and 1978 Galfetti worked on various projects with Livio Vacchini , Luigi Snozzi , Rino Tami and Mario Botta. Since 1976 he has been a member of the Association of Swiss Architects (BSA) and the Association of German Architects (BDA), of which he has been an honorary member since 1983. In 1984 he accepted a visiting professorship at the École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne and in 1987 at the Unité pédagogique 8 in Paris . In 1996, Galfetti and his colleague Mario Botta founded the Accademia di Architettura in Mendrisio , where he was director from 1996 to 2001 and professor until 2006.

Aurelio Galfetti's sister, the actress Luisangela Galfetti, was married to the Catalan painter Xavier Valls (1923-2006). His nephew Manuel Valls was appointed Prime Minister of France on March 31, 2014.
