Iwan Jefimowitsch Jefimow ( Russian Иван Ефимович Ефимов ; * March 18 July / March 29,  1795 greg. In the village of Jakowlewka, Kursk governor ; † August 15 July / August 27, 1841 greg. ) Was a Russian architect .  

Life

Yefimov was the illegitimate son of the serf farmer Anisja Leontjewa and Suvorov -Offiziers and landowner Yefim Grigoryevich Saplatin. At the age of nine, Yefimov was admitted to the Imperial Academy of Arts (IACh) in St. Petersburg for training , which he left in 1815 with the Great Gold Medal for the project of a Senate building, a 1st class certificate and a sword. The state scholarship associated with the Great Gold Medal for a study trip abroad was postponed because of the Sixth Coalition War and finally canceled.

From 1817 Jefimow worked in Moscow with Agustín de Betancourt in the committee for construction and hydraulic work . In 1819, Efimov was sent to Nizhny Novgorod to build a prison . In 1820 he became an architect of the Nizhny Novgorod governorate at the request of the governor Alexander Semjonowitsch Krjukow . In the same year he was recognized as a candidate for membership in the IACh for his project for a cathedral church. In 1825 he was elected a full member of the IACh for his project for a university for 200 people.

Jefimow worked on between 50 and 200 projects a year. At the same time he oversaw the construction of government buildings, churches and private houses. He participated in buildings in St. Petersburg, Kostroma , Yaroslavl and other cities. He developed some types of rental houses . On the basis of facade types , he designed imposing two- and three-story villas with porticos with columns or pilasters on the main facades. He was in the construction of Minin - Pozharsky - obelisk in Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin involved. 1828 Together with Pyotr Danilowitsch Gotman, he developed a program for the urban redevelopment of Nizhny Novgorod.

Efimov's brother Nikolai also worked as an architect in Nizhny Novgorod.
