Ivan Charota
Ivan Alexejewitsch Tscharota ( Belarusian Іван Аляксеевіч Чарота , born September 16, 1952 in Lishchyki, Brest Oblast , Belarus ) is a Slavic literary critic , historian and translator . Charota is a holder of the Belarusian Spiritual Awakening Prize from 2003 and a foreign member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts from 2009. He is also a member of the Association of Writers of Belarus, the Association of Writers of Russia and the Association of Writers of Serbia 1985.
biography
Charota studied from 1969 to 1974 at the Institute of Russian Language and Literature of the Philological Faculty of the Belarusian State University . After graduating, he worked for three years as a teacher at the Palackishka High School in Woranava Rajon in Grodno Oblast . In 1977 he was hired by the Belarusian State University as a lecturer, senior lecturer and associate professor and, after defending his dissertation (studies from 1991 to 1994), was appointed head of the newly formed Chair of Slavic Studies. His candidate thesis «Творчество М.А.Шолохова и литературный процесс Югославии (1956-1986)" was defended at the Institute 1956-1986, his dissertation "Беларуская літаратура ХХ стагоддзя і працэсы нацыянальнага самавызначэння" in the Belarusian State University in Minsk .
Scientific articles and books
Tscharota's scientific interests are mainly directed towards the literature and culture of the Slovenes . He investigated their genetic, typological and concrete connections and became a leading Yugoslavist in Belarus, a specialist in the field of comparative literature and culture. Academic work
Charota is a member of 11 editorial committees (including 6 foreign ones), scientific advisor to the Belarusian encyclopedia; Secretary of the Biblical Commission of the Belarusian Exarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church and editor of the Orthodoxy magazine .
In the scientific and methodological area of the professor has compiled the following books: "Советская литература в связях и взаимодействиях: Начала сравнительного и системного анализа" (Minsk, 1989), "Мастацкі пераклад на беларускую мову: Асновы тэорыі і практычныя рэкамендацыі" (Minsk, 1997 ), "Югаславянскія літаратуры і культуры" (Minsk, 1999 - as a co-author), the program "Гісторыя славянскіх літаратур" (2000), "Гісторыя сербскай літаратуры. Практыкум » (2007).
Translations
Charota is the head of the office for the Association of Translators and Writers of the Association of Belarusian Writers and has published translations from Serbian, Croatian, Slovenian, Macedonian, Polish and other languages into Belarusian and Russian, and from Belarusian and Russian into Serbian. Over 1,200 translations by him have been printed, including over 70 books: works by Pavle , Nikolaj Velimirović , Justin Popović , Ivo Andrić , Branislav Nušić , Dobrica Ćosić , Goran Petrović , Prežihov Voranc , Josip Jurčič , Drago Jančar and others. He is the founder, composer and translator of the series “Сербскае багаслоўе ХХ стагоддзя” , in which more than forty books have already been published.
His collection of Serbian folk tales was translated into Belarusian: "Мовы ўсяго жывога: Сербскія народныя казкі" (Minsk: Мастацкая літаратура , 2007) and was awarded the national prize.
He is one of the founders of the “Committee for the Support of Serbs and Montenegrins” and the public organization “Belarus - Sister of Serbia”, acting Vice-President of the “Belarus-Yugoslavia Society”, President of the “Belarus-Serbia-Montenegro Society”. He is also a member of the Writers 'Union of the Soviet Union (now: Writers' Union of Belarus) as well as Russia and Serbia; he works as a literary critic, critic, essayist and publicist for the press.
