Branislav Nušić
Branislav Nušić ( Serbian - Cyrillic Бранислав Нушић ; born Alkibijad Nuša ; born October 8 . Jul / 20th October 1864 greg. In Belgrade ; † 19th January 1938 ) was a Serbian novelist , playwright, writer of satires and essays . He is the founder of modern rhetoric in Serbia. He also worked as a journalist and civil servant.
Life
Nušić came from a Wallachian family. At the age of 18 he changed his name to Branislav Nušić. He studied law in Belgrade and Graz. In 1885 he took part in the Serbian-Bulgarian war . Because of his poem Dva roba (Two slaves) published in 1887 , which satirically argued with King Milan I , he was sentenced to two years in prison, from which he was released after a year.
Nušić also used the literary pseudonym , Ben Akiba , especially for humorous feature articles for the Politika newspaper in the period before the First World War . He worked as a dramaturge and artistic director at theaters in Belgrade, Novi Sad , Skopje and Sarajevo .
In the early 1930s he was professor of rhetoric at the Royal Military Academy. In 1933 he was elected a full member of the Royal Serbian Academy .
Nušić was an author in whose works the comedy is a defining stylistic element.
