Babelsberg Media Awards

The Babelsberg Media Awards were a series of media awards that were jointly awarded every year until 2010 by the Society for the Perception of Film and Television Rights (GWFF) Munich, the Berlin-Brandenburg Broadcasting Corporation (RBB) and the Babelsberg Film University Konrad Wolf , HFF, in Potsdam- Babelsberg were awarded.

Erich Kästner TV Prize

The “Erich Kästner TV Prize” was a prize for the best German-language children's and youth television program, which was donated by the GWFF and endowed with 25,500 euros (originally: 50,000 DM).

The candidates were proposed by public and private program providers. The award-winning films - based on Erich Kästner - should be characterized by non-violence, fantasy, creativity and natural tension.

Advancement award for the best graduate film

The sponsorship award for the best graduate film was awarded in the categories of feature film and documentary film . The award for the best feature film was donated by the GWFF, the award for the best documentary film was donated by the RBB. Both prizes were endowed with 18,000 euros (originally: 35,000 DM).

The candidates were proposed by the respective universities by submitting films, CD-ROMs and other innovative media technology works as well as television productions. The prize money should only be used for audiovisual productions after graduation.

Acting award

The Acting Award was first donated in 2010 to honor outstanding acting achievements. The prize was endowed with 7,000 euros.

Goal setting

With the annual award of the media prizes, a continuous analysis and evaluation of the existing television offers for children and young people as well as the encouragement and motivation of the students at the media universities should be achieved in order to realize original, creative and innovative productions.
