Izetta, The Last Witch ( Japanese 終末 の イ ゼ ッ タ , Shūmatsu no Izetta ) is a Japanese anime series by the Ajia-dō studio , which has also been released with German subtitles since October 2016.

action

In 1939 the Kaiserreich Germania ( German Empire ) began with its attack on the neighboring country Livonia ( Poland ), which in turn led to the declaration of war by the Kingdom of Britannia ( Great Britain ) and the Free State of Thermidor ( France ), the latter being unexpectedly quickly subdued in a blitzkrieg. Princess Ortfine "Fine" Fredericka von Eylstadt, heir to the throne of the small Alpine principality of Eylstadt ( Liechtenstein - Vorarlberg - Tyrol ), is on a diplomatic mission in the neutral West Ria ( Switzerland ). While she has to hide from the captors of Germania on the train, she finds a strange capsule, which she partially opens before she and her companions jump off the train. The aim of her mission is a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Britannia to give her consent to a political wedding between her and Crown Prince Henry of Britannia, which would lead to an alliance between the two states and bring Eylstadt better protection from Germania’s aggression. The Foreign Minister told her that this offer was invalid, since Germania had just started the invasion of Eylstadt, and shortly afterwards she was arrested by Germania's soldiers. On board the plane to New Berlin is the capsule that opens and from which the last witch, Izetta, gets out, saves Fine and escapes with her. Both met once in their childhood when Fine once saved her life, and out of gratitude she offers her to help Fine save Eylstadt from Germania.
