Izidoro Kosiński

Izidoro Kosiński CM (born April 1, 1932 in Tomaz Coelho ; † September 15, 2017 in Curitiba ) was a Brazilian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Três Lagoas .

Life

Izidoro Kosiński joined the religious order of the Lazarists and was ordained a priest on December 21, 1957 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Três Lagoas on July 24, 1981. The apostolic nuncio in Brazil, Archbishop Carmine Rocco , ordained him episcopal on July 24th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Ladislau Biernaski CM, Auxiliary Bishop in Curitiba , and Pedro Antônio Marchetti Fedalto , Archbishop of Curitiba. On January 7, 2009, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related resignation.

Kosiński campaigned for the rights of workers and indigenous peoples, most recently for those of the Ofayé ethnic group . In the 1980s and 1990s he was often criticized and attacked for his social commitment.
