Geraldo Majela Reis

Geraldo Majela Reis (born August 28, 1924 in Lamim , † May 27, 2004 in Conselheiro Lafaiete ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Diamantina .

Life

Geraldo Majela Reis was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Mariana on November 27, 1949 and was initially a pastor in Mariana .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on January 3, 1978 first bishop of the diocese of Três Lagoas, established on the same date . The Archbishop of Mariana, Oscar de Oliveira , ordained him episcopal on March 30th of the same year. Co- consecrators were the former bishop of Assis , José Lázaro Neves CM , and the bishop of Campo Grande , Antônio Barbosa SDB .

On February 3, 1981, he was appointed Archbishop of Diamantina by Pope John Paul II . He retired from this office on May 14, 1997.
