José Lázaro Neves CM (born April 28, 1902 in Campo Belo , Minas Gerais , Brazil , † May 1, 1991 ) was Bishop of Assis .

Life

José Lázaro Neves joined the Congregation of the Vincentians at and received on 19 December 1926, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On August 30, 1948, Pope Pius XII appointed him . as titular bishop of Abari and auxiliary bishop in Assis. The Archbishop of Mariana , Helvécio Gomes de Oliveira SDB , donated him episcopal ordination on November 21 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Caratinga , João Batista Cavati CM, and the Auxiliary Bishop in Mariana, Daniel Tavares Baeta Neves .

Pius XII. appointed him on February 12, 1952 Coadjutor Bishop of Assis. José Lázaro Neves became Bishop of Assis on February 11, 1956, succeeding the late Antônio José dos Santos CM. On July 20, 1977, Pope Paul VI. the resignation submitted by Neves for reasons of age.

José Lázaro Neves participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
