Antonio José dos Santos
Antônio José dos Santos CM (born November 23, 1872 in Cachoeira do Campo , Minas Gerais , Brazil ; † February 1, 1956 in Assis , São Paulo ) was Bishop of Assis .
Life
Antônio José dos Santos joined the religious order of the Lazarists and made profession in 1893 . On June 9, 1900, he received the sacrament of ordination . Then dos Santos worked at the seminary in Diamantina .
On December 13, 1918, Pope Benedict XV appointed him . to titular bishop of Croae and auxiliary bishop in Diamantina . The Archbishop of Mariana , Silvério Gomes Pimenta , donated him episcopal ordination on October 19, 1919 ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Araçuaí , Serafim Gomes Jardim da Silva , and the Bishop Emeritus of Corumbá , Cyrillo de Paula Freitas .
Pope Pius XI appointed him on November 22, 1929 as the first bishop of Assis.
