The Diocese of Assis ( lat. Dioecesis Assisensis , port. Diocese de Assis ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese based in Assis in the state of São Paulo .
history
The diocese of Assis was founded on November 30, 1928 by Pope Pius XI. Erected from cession of territory by the Diocese of Botucatu . On January 16, 1960, the Diocese of Assis gave up parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Presidente Prudente . Another assignment of territory took place on December 30, 1998 to establish the diocese of Ourinhos .
It is subordinate to the Archdiocese of Botucatu as a suffragan .
