Maurício Grotto de Camargo (born September 26, 1957 in Presidente Prudente , Brazil ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and Archbishop of Botucatu .

Life

Maurício Grotto de Camargo was ordained a priest for the diocese Presidente Prudente on April 11, 1981 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him coadjutor bishop of Assis on May 3, 2000 . The Bishop of Presidente Prudente, Antônio Agostinho Marochi , ordained him episcopal on July 30 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Antônio de Souza CSS , Bishop of Assis, and Antônio Maria Mucciolo , Old Archbishop of Botucatu . As a motto he chose SEREIS MINHAS TESTEMUNHAS ATÉ OS CONFINS DO MUNDO .

From September 17, 2003 to May 24, 2004, he was Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Araçatuba during the Sedis vacancy . When Antônio de Souzas CSS retired on October 27, 2004, he succeeded him in the office of Bishop of Assis. Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on November 19, 2008 Archbishop of Botucatu.
