José Benedito Simão

José Benedito Simão (born January 1, 1951 in Caçapava , State of São Paulo , Brazil ; † November 27, 2015 in Marília , State of São Paulo, Brazil) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and bishop of Assis .

Life

José Benedito Simão received on June 7 in 1981 by the Archbishop of São Paulo , Paulo Evaristo Arns Cardinal OFM , the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On 28 November 2001 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To the titular of Tagaria and ordered him to auxiliary bishop in Sao Paulo. The Archbishop of São Paulo, Cláudio Cardinal Hummes OFM, donated him episcopal ordination on January 25, 2002 ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Duque de Caxias , Mauro Morelli , and the Bishop of Barretos , Antônio Gaspar . The inauguration took place on March 9, 2002.

On June 24th, 2009 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . to the bishop of Assis. It was particularly important to Simão to bring theology closer to the faithful. On November 23, 2015, he suffered a stroke, which he died four days later in a hospital in Marília.
