Antônio Gaspar

Antônio Gaspar (born November 11, 1931 in São Paulo , Brazil ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and former bishop of Barretos .

Life

Antônio Gaspar was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of São Paulo on July 8, 1962 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Auxiliary Bishop in São Paulo and Titular Bishop of Cozyla on December 6, 1982 . The Archbishop of São Paulo, Paulo Evaristo Cardinal Arns OFM , donated him episcopal ordination on February 6 of the next year ; Co-consecrators were the auxiliary bishops Francisco Manuel Vieira and José Thurler from São Paulo.

On December 20, 2000, he was appointed Bishop of Barretos, and on March 3 of the next year he was appointed to the office. On January 9, 2008, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related resignation.
