Francisco Manuel Vieira (born September 29, 1925 in Rio Tinto , Portugal , † December 23, 2013 in Osasco , Brazil ) was the Roman Catholic Bishop of Osasco .

Life

Francisco Manuel Vieira received on 8 December 1952 at the Brazilian Archdiocese of São Paulo , the ordination .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on December 12, 1974 titular bishop of Hippo Diarrhytus and appointed him auxiliary bishop in São Paulo . The Archbishop of São Paulo, Paulo Evaristo Cardinal Arns OFM , donated him episcopal ordination on January 25, 1975 ; Co - consecrators were Benedito de Ulhôa Vieira , auxiliary bishop in São Paulo, and José Thurler , auxiliary bishop in São Paulo. His episcopal motto was "In virtute dei" (For a strong God).

He was regional episcopal vicar and general vicar of the Archdiocese of São Paulo from 1975 to 1989 and president of the regional committee from 1982 to 1986. On March 15, 1989, Pope John Paul II appointed him the first bishop of the Osasco diocese .

On April 24, 2002, John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation. He died of a stroke.
