Argemiro de Azevedo

Argemiro de Azevedo CMF (born December 3, 1952 in Fernandópolis , São Paulo , Brazil ) is a Brazilian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Assis .

Life

Argemiro de Azevedo joined the Claretian Order and made his profession on February 9, 1975 . He studied at the Claretian Seminary in Rio Claro and in Curitiba and was ordained a priest on July 2, 1980 for the Archdiocese of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro .

In addition to various tasks in parish pastoral care and internal training, he was director of the university center of his religious community in Batatais from 1985 to 1994 . During this time he graduated from the University of São Marcos in São Paulo with a degree in education . Subsequently he was head of the college and the Claretian Faculty in São Paulo until 2001.

He took on pastoral duties in the diocese of Araçatuba , where he was pastor of the parish Immaculate Heart of Mary since 2003 . He worked as an examining magistrate at the church court and in family chaplaincy. He was also a member of the Council of Priests and the College of Consultors of the Diocese.

Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Assis on December 14, 2016. The bishop of Araçatuba , Sérgio Krzywy , gave him episcopal ordination on February 25 of the following year. Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Itapeva , Arnaldo Carvalheiro Neto , and the Prelate of Itaituba , Wilmar Santin OCarm . The inauguration in the diocese of Assis took place on March 19, 2017.
