Jónas Árnason

Jónas Árnason (born May 28, 1923 in Vopnafjörður ; † April 5, 1998 ) was an Icelandic politician and writer . From 1949 to 1953 he was a member of the Althing for the United People's Party - Socialist Party and from 1967 to 1979 for the People's Alliance .

Life

Árnason was the son of a journalist. He attended Menntaskólinn í Reykjavík High School , and then studied literature and journalism from 1942 to 1944 at the University of Iceland , the American University and the University of Minnesota . He then worked as a journalist, deep-sea fisherman and from 1954 as a teacher.

In his literary work, which consists of stories and plays , he deals, among other things, with the life of Icelandic deep-sea fishermen.
