Jörg-Peter Findeisen

Jörg-Peter Findeisen (born May 12, 1943 in Grevesmühlen ) is a German historian who is particularly concerned with Scandinavian history.

Findeisen studied history, German and Slavic studies in Rostock . From 1970 he was Konrad Fritze's assistant at the University of Greifswald , where he received his doctorate in Swedish history in 1974. The topic of his dissertation was: Problems of “class cooperation” in the Swedish trade union movement: with special reference to the years 1938 to 1950. He then taught German at the GDR cultural center in Cairo and then in Stockholm . In 1984 Findeisen completed his habilitation in Greifswald with the work The progressive economic reform journalism in Swedish-Pomerania in the last third of the 18th century . From 1986 to 1988 he was a lecturer at the Herder Institute at the University of Leipzig and from 1988 to 1993 he was professor of early modern history at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena (inaugural lecture: The Enlightened Absolutism Gustav III, published in Selected Lectures at the Schiller University Jena 1989). Among other things, he was visiting professor in Sweden, where he became honorary professor at Sundsvall University in 1995 . He currently teaches at Trier University of Applied Sciences .

Findisen is particularly known for the biography of Charles XII. (Sweden) .
