Jörg Abbing

Jörg Abbing (* 1969 in Duisburg ) is a German organist and musicologist .

Jörg Abbing studied Protestant church music , organ, musicology , art history and German in Düsseldorf and Saarbrücken . Almut Rößler and Volker Hempfling were among his most important teachers . He supplemented his training with private studies with André Isoir , Gaston Litaize and Naji Hakim . In 1994 he received his A-exam in church music, in 1996 his concert exam in organ. He received his doctorate from the Saarland University with a thesis on the organ works by Maurice Duruflé . Jörg Abbing has been cantor and organist at the collegiate church of St. Arnual in Saarbrücken since 1995 and has lectured at the Saarland University and at the church music institute of the Speyer diocese (piano and organ). Since 2011 he has held a professorship for practical piano playing and piano improvisation at the Saar University of Music in Saarbrücken.
