Jörg Straube

Jörg Straube (born May 1, 1953 in Bremen ) is a German conductor , choir director and university teacher .

Live and act

Straube attended high school on Hamburger Straße in Bremen and founded various ensembles during his subsequent studies in school and church music , including the North German Figural Choir in 1981 . In 1986 he took over the direction of the Hanover Bach Choir at the Marktkirche there . He also works as a guest conductor with the choirs of the Norddeutscher Rundfunk Hamburg , the RIAS Berlin , the Südwestdeutscher Rundfunk and the Rundfunkchor Berlin .

Since 1984 Straube has been the permanent musical advisor to the Lower Saxony State Youth Choir .

Straube works as a university lecturer at the University of Music Würzburg and at the Escolas dos Artes in Porto (Portugal).

  • 1983 Lower Saxony artist grant
  • With his ensembles, Straube has won numerous prizes at national and international choir competitions:
    • 1990: 1st prize at the German Choir Competition with the North German Figural Choir
    • 1992: 1st prize at the chamber choir competition in Takarazuka / Japan with the North German Figural Choir
    • 1997: 1st prize at the Brahms Competition in Hamburg with the North German Figural Choir
    • 1998: 3rd prize at the German Choir Competition with the Hanover Bach Choir
    • 1999: 1st and 2nd prize at the 31st choir competition in Tolosa / Spain with the North German Figural Choir
  • His choral music recordings with the North German Figural Choir have won multiple record and CD awards
  • In 1998, 1999, 2008 and 2010 he received the Echo Klassik with the North German Figural Choir for the field of choir / ensemble music - a cappella and additionally in 2010 for the "Vocal Ensemble of the Year"
