Jörg Weidinger , (born May 29, 1975 in Hersbruck ) is a German hill climb driver . In 2005 and 2006 he was European Touring Car Mountain Champion .

Life and work

After completing secondary school, he trained as an automobile mechanic at BMW in Regensburg . He also obtained the advanced technical college entrance qualification (BOS) in Amberg . After studying vehicle technology at the Munich University of Applied Sciences, he is now a test engineer in chassis testing at the BMW Group Munich. He is also a driving instructor for BMW driver training.

Motorsport

He gained his first experience at the age of 18 with a BMW 318i in the automobile slalom. In 1995 he was able to achieve his first class wins. From 1997 individual races of the Veedol Endurance Cup were added at the Nürburgring. Around this time he also drove his first rallies and hill climbs. In 2001 and 2002 he reached the 3rd place in the DMSB Hill Climb Cup for Touring Cars and in 2003 he won the trophy at BMW 318 is Group G .

In 2005 and 2006 he drove in a Group N -BMW M3 3.2 in the FIA - European Hill Climb Championship and in both years was 9 times group winner of Group N and thus FIA European Hill Climbing Champion of touring cars.

In 2004 he set a world speed record recognized by the FIA ​​on the hydrogen-powered experimental vehicle "BMW H2R".

From 2007 he drives a group CN -Osella-BMW PA20 / S in the German and European mountain championship for racing vehicles and achieved a third place in the German sports car mountain cup. In 2007 he was the overall winner of individual races (Rennsteig, Homburg and Osnabrück). Overall victories were also recorded in 2008; in the mountain championship for racing vehicles he reached 2nd place with 330 points. In 2009 the focus was on the German championship; individual EBM runs ( Rechberg ) were included on free dates. In 2009 he won the German Mountain Championship for racing vehicles. He also drives the BMW M3 race taxi on the Nordschleife at the Nürburgring. In 2011 he took part in four race weekends of the Mini Challenge Germany .

In 2014, he became German touring car mountain champion in a BMW, making motorsport history. He is the first driver who was able to secure the championship title in both racing cars and touring cars.
