The Mini Challenge Germany was a motorsport racing series that was held from 2004 to 2011. The races took place as part of various series and events, including Formula 1 , World Touring Car Championship , 24-hour races , DTM , AvD Oldtimer Grand Prix , ADAC Masters Weekend and the Mini United Festival . In the Clubsport series only minis were at the start. The successor championship is the Mini Trophy , which has been held since 2012 .
Technical regulations
Only the Mini John Cooper Works Challenge model with 210 hp and an acceleration from 0 to 100 in 6.1 seconds was permitted . The car cost € 41,930 (excluding VAT ) and could not be approved for use on public roads. The minimum weight of the car was 1150 kg plus driver. BMW delivered and tested the vehicle. At the start of the Mini Challenge, the vehicles were allocated to the 38 individual teams. In order to ensure the greatest possible equality of opportunity, only a few changes to the car were allowed. The engine, transmission and turbocharger were secured with seals that could not be removed. No additional thermostats were allowed to be installed. The racing tires came from the manufacturer Dunlop .
Sporting regulations
The minimum age was 18 years. However, the series operator was able to allow 17-year-old starters in the form of an exception. Drivers with a valid national A license for all events approved by the DMSB or an international B or C driver license of the DMSB or another national sports authority affiliated to the FIA for all other events that were held at the Mini Challenge organization according to the registration requirements were eligible to participate were registered and paid the registration fee. On the race weekend there was a free practice and a timed practice of 30 minutes. Two races of 30 minutes each were held. There was an exception in the 24-hour race, where only one race was held. The starting grid for the second race was based on the result of the first, with the first six drivers starting the second race in reverse order. The races were usually started with a standing start.
