Mr. AZ is the second studio album by the American singer-songwriter Jason Mraz .

background

Jason Mraz's second studio album was released on July 27, 2005. In contrast to Mraz's earlier works, the album has a clearly more poppy sound. This was received critically by fans and the album was only able to stay in the US top 50 for three weeks . With Steve Lillywhite a successful producer was brought on board, who previously worked with music greats such as Coldplay , the Dave Matthews Band and the Rolling Stones . In addition to the usual instruments for Mraz (such as the guitar ), the album also features rather atypical instruments such as piano and violins .

Furthermore, the song Mr. Curiosity contains a verse which is performed by Mraz in operatic singing style . The song was best known to the German audience in Lena Meyer-Landrut's version when she performed it at the semi-finals of Our Star for Oslo . In March 2010, Jason Mraz's version rose to number 78 in the German single charts.

Mraz's former roommate Billy "Bushwalla" Galewood describes the making of Bella Luna as follows: “The song is about the moon. We were in Malibu writing for Mr. AZ . I was sleeping when Jason woke me up and said, "Give me a few words, bitch!" . The moon was big and beautiful that night and the rest is history. "

On March 14, 2006, Wordplay was released as the album's first single .

format

In the USA and Europe the album was sold as a special edition as a dual disc in addition to the conventional CD , which contains additional material in addition to the album.
