Jörn Ratering

Jörn Ratering (born December 6, 1984 in Münster , Westphalia , artist name Jörn Bleibtreu ) is a German television editor and book author . He became known for having made film appearances in Tanzania while he was a student .

Life

Jörn Ratering grew up in Schwerte on the Ruhr. There he went to school. In 2004 he moved to Mainz, where he studied ethnology , philosophy and education at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz . In 2009 and 2010 he did field research in Dar es Salaam , Tanzania, to find explanations for the great success of telenovelas on Tanzanian television. His on-site lecturer referred him to the film when a white actor was wanted for the role of an American lawyer. Since his last name was difficult to pronounce in Tanzania, he called himself Jörn Bleibtreu , named after the actor Moritz Bleibtreu . In total, he worked in two films in Tanzania. In 2013 his book Mambo supa dupa - My life as a film star in Tanzania was published .

Ratering works as a documentary editor for television, u. a. on a data journalism project for the program Team Wallraff , where she set up a verification team for fake news .
