The New Jewish Cemetery Eisenstadt is located in the municipality of Eisenstadt in Burgenland . The Jewish cemetery is a listed building .
history
The New Jewish Cemetery was laid out in 1875 near the Old Jewish Cemetery on Wertheimerstrasse. 278 dead found their final resting place on it. As in almost all Jewish cemeteries in Burgenland, there are only Hebrew grave inscriptions in the new cemetery.
In 1992 the cemetery was desecrated and around 80 stones were smeared with Nazi slogans.
One of the last Jews who returned after 1945 and lived in Eisenstadt died in 2005.
