Juerg H. Buchegger

Jürg Hermann Buchegger (* 1956 in St. Gallen ) is a Swiss Protestant Reformed pastor and has been Vice Rector and Lecturer for Practical Theology at the State Independent Theological University (STH) in Riehen near Basel since 2013 .

Life

Buchegger grew up in St. Gallen. 1977–1981 he studied theology at the Free Evangelical Theological Academy (FETA) in Riehen near Basel, which is now called the State Independent Theological College (STH) . 1981–1983 he studied Protestant theology at the University of Basel . 1983–1984 he completed an internship in the evangelical-reformed St. Matthäusgemeinde Basel. He then held various parish offices, such as 1984–1988 in Oberuzwil , 1988–2001 in Zell - Kollbrunn and 2001–2010 in Fischenthal . He has been a pastor in Frauenfeld since 2010 . From 1988–1996 he headed the Swiss Evangelical Alliance . He is also vice-president of the reformed regional church forum in Switzerland. In 2012 he was trained at the University of Freiburg i.Üe. the doctor of theology doctorate. His doctoral thesis was published in the Institute for Ecumenical Studies under the title: “ The Word of the Cross in Christian-Muslim Encounters. Johan Bouman's life and work . “Buchegger pays tribute to the Dutch evangelical theologian Bouman, who was a professor of Islamic studies in Beirut and a pioneer in the dialogue with Islam. Buchegger has been Vice Rector and Lecturer for Practical Theology at the State-independent Theological University STH in Basel since 2013.

He is married to Sylvia Brütsch, they have three grown children and live in Frauenfeld.
