Jürg Zeltner (born May 4, 1967 - March 22, 2020 ) was a Swiss manager .

Jürg Zeltner became a member of the UBS Executive Committee in February 2009 and was President Wealth Management of UBS Group AG from November 2014 to the end of 2017 . At the end of 2017, he stepped down from the Executive Committee and left UBS. As one of the few Swiss at the top management level, he was a member of the UBS Group Management.

In 2019 he became CEO of the KBL European Private Bankers Group (Luxembourg).

He died on March 22, 2020 of complications from a brain tumor . He leaves behind his wife and two children.

Professional career and education

Zeltner actually wanted to study veterinary medicine until he decided against an academic career in 1984 and got an apprenticeship at the Swiss Bank Corporation. He then graduated from the Higher Commercial Comprehensive School (HKG) in Bern with a degree in business administration and then completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School .

Zeltner joined the Corporate Client Division of the Swiss Bank Corporation (SBV / SBC) in 1987. There he held various positions in Switzerland and New York City , including as Credit Risk Officer for corporate and institutional clients.

After the merger of SBV with the Swiss Bank Corporation (SBG) to form UBS in 1998, Zeltner was appointed Head of Portfolio Management for Risk Transformation and Capital Management. He was responsible for the development and management of an international competence center for on- and off-balance-sheet management as well as an integrated risk management system for UBS in Switzerland. From 2005 to 2008 he was CEO of UBS Deutschland AG, Frankfurt am Main , where he was appointed CEO of the entire UBS business in the Benelux countries , Germany and Central Europe in 2007. He was then responsible for the wealth management business in Northern , Eastern and Central Europe. In February 2009 he was appointed a member of the UBS Executive Committee. Until the end of 2017, as President Wealth Management of UBS Group AG, he was responsible for all asset management with around 15,000 employees (including 4,000 client advisors).

Zeltner stepped down from the Executive Committee at the end of 2017 and left UBS Group AG. The Board of Directors has appointed Martin Blessing to succeed him as President Wealth Management.

In 2019 he became CEO of KBL European Private Bankers (Luxembourg). KBL has been operating as Quintet Private Bank since January 2020 .

Zeltner was a member of the foundation and supervisory board of the International Institute for Management Development (IMD), Lausanne .

Zeltner was nominated for the Supervisory Board of Deutsche Bank on August 15, 2019. The Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin) has blocked it because of possible conflicts of interest . Zeltner resigned from his supervisory board mandate at the end of 2019. On January 24, 2020, Deutsche Bank nominated Sigmar Gabriel to succeed Zeltner.
