Jürgen Arne Bach

Jürgen Arne Bach (born September 25, 1942 in Stuttgart ) is a German publisher .

Life and work

After attending school and completing an apprenticeship as a bookseller , Bach studied history , politics and English in Freiburg . In 1976 he did his doctorate with Andreas Hillgruber with a thesis on Franz von Papen for Dr. phil.

In 1977 Bach became a lecturer at Herder Verlag in Freiburg. In April 1987 he took over the management of the hardcover editing department at Ullstein Verlag in Berlin . In 1990 he was also appointed head of the newly acquired Franckh-Kosmos publishing house . In 1995 he went to Dornier as managing director before returning to Herder in 2001 as managing director.

Bach has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Publishers' Committee at the German Book Trade Association since 1997, and has been its chairman since 2000.
