Jürgen Dittmann

Jürgen Dittmann (born February 22, 1947 in Meinerzhagen ) is a German Germanist ( linguist ).

Life

After graduating from high school in Gummersbach (Rhineland) in 1966, he first studied physics , and after completing basic military service (1966 to 1968), he studied philosophy , German , English and political science at the University of Freiburg . He started working for Hugo Steger in 1974 with the work Speech Action Theory and Tense Grammar. Future tense and future reference in the spoken German standard language to the Dr. phil. did his doctorate and habilitation in 1977 with the thesis Understanding Linguistics and Analytical Philosophy of Science for the subject Germanic Philology. From 1980 he was Professor of German Philology / Modern German Linguistics at the University of Freiburg. He has been retired since March 31, 2012.

From 1992 to 1996 he was a member of the board of directors of the research focus Neuropsychology / Neurolinguistics of the State of Baden-Württemberg at the University of Freiburg and from 1993 to 2002 he was a lecturer in the graduate school “Human and Machine Intelligence”. Research focuses on contemporary German, neurolinguistics and orthography .

Dittmann is married and has two children.

Honors

In February 2007 he was awarded the Medal of Merit by the Philological Faculty of Saint Petersburg State University .

For his 65th birthday, the book Special Communication and Linguistics was dedicated to him.
