The Roman Catholic Diocese of Nova Iguaçu ( Latin Dioecesis Neo-Iguassuensis , Portuguese Diocese de Nova Iguaçu ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese , based in Nova Iguaçu in the state of Rio de Janeiro .

Catedral Santo Antonio de Jacutinga

Pope John XXIII founded it with the Apostolic Constitution Qui in Apostolici on March 26, 1960 from cession of the dioceses of Campos , Niterói and Valença and it was subordinated to the Archdiocese of São Sebastião do Rio de Janeiro as a suffragan diocese.

It lost parts of its territory in favor of the establishment of the following dioceses:

The diocese Nova Iguaçu includes the parishes of Nova Iguaçu , Belford Roxo , Japeri , Mesquita , Nilópolis , Paracambi , Queimados and part of Miguel Pereira of the state of Rio de Janeiro.
