Walmor Battú Wichrowski

Walmor Battú Wichrowski (born October 27, 1920 in Ijuí , Rio Grande do Sul , † October 31, 2001 in Porto Alegre ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Cruz Alta .

Life

Walmor Battú Wichrowski received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Santa Maria on December 23, 1945 .

Pope Pius XII appointed him on February 14, 1958 titular bishop of Sanavus and auxiliary bishop in Santos . The coadjutor bishop of Santa Maria, Luís Victor Sartori , donated him episcopal ordination on May 25 of the next year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Santos, Idílio José Soares , and the Bishop of Passo Fundo , João Cláudio Colling . On June 15, 1958, the inauguration took place in the diocese of Santos.

On April 23, 1960 Pope John XXIII appointed him . the first bishop of the diocese of Nova Iguaçu, established in the previous month . On May 31, 1961, he renounced the diocese of Nova Iguaçu. Pope John XXIII appointed him titular bishop of Phelbes and auxiliary bishop in Santa Maria on the same date .

He participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father. In 1965 he was released from the position of auxiliary bishop in Santa Maria.

On May 27, 1971, Pope Paul VI appointed him . the first bishop of the diocese of Cruz Alta, established on the same date . After there had been disagreements here, too, the Pope accepted his renunciation of the Cruz Alta diocese on November 16, 1972 and reappointed him titular Bishop of Phelbes .
