Luciano Bergamin

Luciano Bergamin CRL (born May 4, 1944 in Loria (Veneto) , Italy ) is an Italian religious and emeritus Roman Catholic Bishop of Nova Iguaçu in Brazil .

Life

Luciano Bergamin joined the order of the Augustinian Canons of the Lateran on December 19, 1982 , made his profession on October 2, 1960 and was ordained a priest on April 10, 1969 .

On April 5, 2000, Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Santo Amaro and titular bishop of Octabia . He was ordained episcopate on May 20th of the same year by the Bishop of Santo Amaro, Fernando Antônio Figueiredo, OFM ; Co- consecrators were Emílio Pignoli , Bishop of Campo Limpo , and Francisco Manuel Vieira , Bishop of Osasco . As a motto he chose DOMINUS LUX ET SALUS .

On July 24, 2002 he was appointed Bishop of Nova Iguaçu . On May 15, 2019, Pope Francis accepted Luciano Bergamin's resignation due to reasons of age.
