With Baumholder he had reached the 4th place and participated with the Southwest selection on October 29, 1966 in the competition for the country cup at the game against the Middle Rhine. The small and agile dribbler on the wing made his debut on August 13, 1967 in a 4-0 away defeat by the Blau-Schwarz vom Alsenweg in the regional league. Under coach Hermann Lindemann , he completed 26 league games and scored four goals when he reached 12th rank. At the side of fellow players such as Udo Glaser , Manfred Grimm , Wolfgang Höfig , Rolf Lederer , Günter Sebert , Klaus Sinn and Friedrich Zipperer , he drew the attention of observers from the Bundesliga through his performances and switched to the Bundesliga after a year at SV Waldhof Hamburger SV.

In addition to the team of trainer Kurt Koch and the technical director Georg Knöpfle , the other newcomers Gert Girschkowski , Klaus Fock , Robert Pötzschke , Hubert Schöll , Hans-Werner Kremer and Jürgen Seifert joined the team . Dringelstein made his Bundesliga debut on August 17, 1968 in a 0-1 away defeat at Eintracht Braunschweig. Striker partners were Jürgen Seifert and Gert Dörfel . At the end of the round, the “Rautträger” finished in 6th place and the newcomer from SV Waldhof had played 23 (1 goal) league games. In addition, he was also used in two DFB Cup games against Borussia Mönchengladbach and FC Bayern Munich. In addition to the international friendly on October 23, 1968 at FC Barcelona (3: 2), where he formed the three-way attack with Uwe Seeler and "Charly" Dörfel, he also played in the trade fair cup against FC Metz, Slavia Prague and Hibernian Edinburgh. Due to protracted injuries, the talented attacker could not continue his promising career in the next rounds; only five Bundesliga games (1 goal) followed in 1969/70. Dringelstein played his last competitive game for HSV on January 4, 1970 in a 3-1 away win at FC Villingen 08 in the DFB Cup. With Uwe Seeler and Gert Dörfel he formed the HSV attack on the right wing. He was under contract with HSV for two more years, but did not return to the field and returned to his home club in Baumholder as a sports invalid for the 1972/73 season.
