Jürgen Heyer

Jürgen Heyer (born December 15, 1944 in Peckelsheim ) is a German SPD politician . From 1998 to 2003 he was a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt .

Life and work

Heyer graduated from high school in Essen in 1964 . From 1966 to 1970 he studied law in Tübingen and Berlin . In 1970 he passed his first state examination and in 1975 his second state examination. Then he was a judge in Berlin until 1989. In 1984, Heyer received his doctorate from the Free University of Berlin on the subject of corporate norms and collective bargaining . Heyer is married and has a daughter.

From 1989 to 1991 he worked in the Senate Department for Justice in Berlin. He then worked in the Ministry of Justice in Brandenburg until 1992. From 1992 to 1994 he worked in the Ministry for Housing, Urban Development and Transport in Brandenburg. Since February 2003 he has been working as an independent consultant. In November 2012, Heyer was elected President of the German Association for Housing, Urban Development and Spatial Planning eV and remained in this position until November 2018. In 2013 he was admitted to the bar and works as " Of Counsel " at the law firm GSK Stockmann + Kollegen in the Berlin office.

Political party

In 1967 he was a member of the federal executive committee of the Socialist Youth of Germany - The Falcons . Heyer joined the SPD in 1972.

MP

From 1998 until his resignation on December 13, 2003, Heyer was a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt and represented the constituency of Havelberg - Osterburg . After leaving the state parliament, Hans-Christian Sachse took over .

Public offices

From 1994 until the change of government in 2002, Heyer was Minister for Housing, Urban Development and Transport in Saxony-Anhalt. Heyer came under fire in connection with the filling of a post (so-called antechamber affair) in his ministry. This issue was also the subject of a parliamentary committee of inquiry in the state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt . As a minister, he signed a controversial multi-billion dollar contract with Deutsche Bahn on regional transport at the end of February 2002, which was later reversed. In 2003, however, Heyer was appointed to the supervisory board of the (then) DB subsidiary Scandlines .
