Jürgen Hinz (politician)

Jürgen Hinz (born March 25, 1939 in Hamburg ; † August 5, 2018 ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

After graduating from high school in 1959, Hinz studied chemistry at the TU Braunschweig , the University of Karlsruhe and the University of Hamburg . In 1964 he joined the SPD. He received his doctorate from the University of Hamburg in 1970. From 1971 he worked at Deutsche Texaco in the patent department in Hamburg. In 1972 he became a member of the chemical-paper-ceramic union . In 1979, Hinz moved to the Hamburg Authority for Science and Research , where he worked as a scientific employee in research funding and planning.

He took over offices in the SPD, for example as chairman of the district association of the Duchy of Lauenburg and was a member of the Linau municipal council from 1978 to 1982 .

In 1983 he entered the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament via the SPD state list and was re-elected in 1987. In the state elections in 1988 he won the direct mandate in the then Lauenburg-Ost state electoral district and in 1992 in the Lauenburg-Nord state electoral district. In 1996 he left the state parliament, but replaced Rolf Schroedter on May 13, 1997 , who had resigned from his seat. Hinz was one of a number of parliamentary committees and from 1999 to 2000 Chairman of Pallas - committee . He was a member of the study commission “Chances and Risks of Genetic Engineering ” and deputy chairman of the study commission “Future Energy Supply in Schleswig-Holstein”.

Hinz was married and had one child.
